Cat Flap!

Free Domains at .co.nr

She can now competently come from outside, through the cat flap, in.
As to whether she can come from inside out, I don't know.

We trained her to our next door neighbors method. Quite rigorous but it worked the best by far. You need two people to do this.

1. When she/he is hungry, put food into the bowl.
2. One person to stay inside (with the bowl) and one to go outside (with the cat).
3. The person on the inside needs to show the cat the food and call for the cat, while the other GENTLY presses the cats head to the cat flap until the cat is halfway through it.
4. Allow it to feed for a minute.
5. Repeat this process 4 times twice a day until the cat gets used to the fact.
6. Repeat it for the reverse (from inside to the outside).

Pictures of Pumpkin

Free Domains at .co.nr

The moment you have all been waiting for! Finally you get to see some photos of Pumpkin!

This has been slightly edited to make it look better (blame my rubbish camera skills).
Isn't she cute! This was taken when she was watching my dad put the cat flap in and the drill started. She was a little scared but some treat soon made her look better.
Bye for now!

Update.

Free Domains at .co.nr

It's been a while since I last updated this blog diary.

UPDATES: We have bought a cat flap! Here comes the long days ahead of training. She also now has a favortie treat- goodgirl CatNip drops. Although she is not the kind of cat to go mad over them-she reaaaaly enjoys them.

We hope to buy a cat radiator bed soon. Pumpkin seems to be a little fatter now- kittens or food?! We now wish she would have 20+ kittens: so many of our friends have expressed interest in getting one.

Thanks for reading,
Bye!

Pumpkin's Favorite Food

Free Domains at .co.nr

Pumpkin will eat most happily- Felix Duck and Turkey, and IAMS Dry Adult Complete.

Another thing I forgot to mention was the fact that the vet said she was around ten months old.

Her favorite things to attack are homemade K'nex toys with toy mice attached to them! I would suggest these to any cat owner.

Hello!

This is my blog diary of my new cat- Pumpkin.
I'll give you a brief on her life so far:
Pumpkin came on Halloween night, miaowing at the door. We let her in, and it seemed a friendly little cat. She would leap onto our knees and demand attention. Surely she belonged to someone else. We asked our next door neighbors if they had recently gotten a cat, and no. (You see, we live on the outskirts of a little village) so they gave us some food; of which she ate ravenously. We prepared somewhere for her to sleep- and let her out to go to the toilet.
Maybe that night she decided to go hunting or not, but she didn't come back, and we were prepared to give her up as gone back her family.
But two days later she appeared at breakfast time- so we fed her again- she was so boney and thin. And ever since she has been coming back- being let out when people left the house and at night.

We took her to the Vet's yesterday- to get her checked for micro-chipping, gender, status etc. She didn't take kindly to the car so I spent most of the journey comforting her. It wasn't the box she didn't like- it was the car! Her face would pop out through the mesh holes and she would paw me as if to say- Let me out! I really don't like it here...

So the vet told us she was a girl, and possibly had a kitten several weeks ago. The saddest bit is that a customer brought a kitten in that looked like her- and the kitten had been attacked by a dog. The vet took it home, but unfortunately it died later on. This would have been two weeks ago.

Pumpkin is not micro chipped. There is a slight possibility that she could be pregnant but we have to wait four weeks for the vet to check her out- standard procedure for a neutering process.

So it would now seem I have a cat, and I'll update you on her progress as the days go by. Please subscribe to our RSS feed- as I'll try and get some photos on.
If you have any ideas for toys for Pumpkin- please post them as your comments.
Thanks, Bye!
